Please send in your letters of support today! The hearings on TWO critical bills to Fix School Discipline are next week!

Letters are due tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24, by 5 pm for SB 744, which will protect the due process rights of students involuntarily transferred to county community or community day schools and also closes a loophole in the discipline statute that allows such transfers even when an expulsion of a student is not recommended.

In addition to sending an email through the attached link, please fax your letters to the attention of Chairwoman Senator Carol Liu at (916) 445-7799.

Letters are due on Thursday, April 25, by 5 pm for AB 549, which requires school safety plans to better define the role of police officers on campus in order to promote effective strategies towards school safety that better support a healthy school climate and student achievement.  AB 549 additionally takes measures to address California’s alarming student-to-counselor ratio of 810-to-1, by prioritizing funding for school counselors and administrators before police officers.  Click here to send a letter of support for AB 549.

In addition to sending an email through the attached link, please fax your letters to the attention of Chairwoman Joan Buchanan at (916) 319-2187.
